Music and language
An art project by Viola Schöpe, Nadia Nid el Murid and Coline Linder
Installation in the gallery of the artists‘ village “Le Village d´Artistes” in
France in April 2014
Music is our working basis and connecting link within this art project.
Nadia Nid el Mourid and Coline Linder are professional musicians in different
bands: Nadia Nid el Mourid is involved in the music group “Lo'jo”, Coline Linder
is a member of the bands “Titi Zaro” and “Elle et L´ouïe”.
In this project, Nadia is going to present photographies, Coline shows drawings
and woodcuts, and Viola uses music as a source of inspiration for her work as a
painter and sculptor.
Word becomes painting
Music – our common thread – tranforms into words, and from spoken into written
words. The word, merging from sound into phonetic transcription, becomes a
painting. We are using the transformation of language, i.e. not by means of simply
translating it. (However, this kind of transformation plays a role as incentive and
source of poetic inspiration.)
Our work is supported by an abundance of materials, e.g. postcards, books, math
books, and techniques, e.g. oil, acrylic paint, pencil, collage, ink, etc.
With this project we are aiming at merging our three different cultural backgrounds
and life experiences, contributing our artistic thumbprints to our common attempt
to create a touch of poetry by correspondences in the sense of Baudelaire.
Some kind of modus vivendi ART
This installation is being developed from November 2013 – April 2014, in a process
of creative collaboration; “Le Village d’ Artistes” in Rablay sur Layon will make a
musical mark.
The exhibition will be open from 11th April to 22nd June 2014.
